Almost about everyone is opting for distance learning education. However, people often tend to overlook some important facts about distance education. Here are some things that you need to consider while opting for a distance education degree program:
1) Does the University or College Only Offer Online Degrees? - Those schools that only offer a degree online somehow lose respectability and reputability. Any school that offers only online degrees earns a bad reputation. Eventually, their degrees lose credibility. You will realize this when you begin job hunting or finish your education. The best option is to locate a state school or at least a prestigious private school. You want to ensure that the degree doesn’t state anything about you taking online courses or via distance education. Make sure your degree looks like the degrees of other students on campus.
2) Ensure the School is Accredited Regionally- There are various types of accreditation- Regional and national being the most important ones. Ensure the school you zero in on is regionally accredited. It is the most legitimate accreditation. Regional accreditation ensures your courses are easily transferable to other schools, and your school has undergone painstaking accreditation analysis.
3) Cost- The tuition fee structure of every school is different. It varies from institute to institute. Generally, state schools in low income areas charge about $100 (INR 4500) per credit. On the other hand, private schools charge about $500 (INR 22,500) per credit or even more. Don’t forget to compare costs before you finalize the best school for yourself. It is highly recommended that you ensure the school you are opting for offers financial aid for distance education learners.
